I have had the honor of painting in plein air on many occasions with my good friend Keni.  I always admired his talent and his ability to catch the scene before him so quickly.   Then one day he surprised me, and asked if I would like to paint a few sample works in watercolor with his new Keni Kit, and give him my opinion.  My favorite mediums have always been oil and pastel.  Loving to experiment, I thought I’d give watercolor a go. Keni, well-known urban sketcher, has designed an all-in-one travel sketching kit for use with watercolor. The Keni Kit is a self-contained, compact kit that contains paint receptacles, water container and dish, mixing trays, brushes and paper. It also has optional features which allow it to function as an easel for a sketch book and attach to a stand for stability. I have used the Keni Kit and found it easy and practical to use. As the popularity of urban sketching continues to grow, I think many people will be looking for compact kits such as this that don’t require hauling around a lot of equipment. I applaud Keni’s efforts and hope that he can thus enhance the experience of many artists.
